Hello and welcome to The Disabled Muslim blog! I’m so happy you’re here.
My disability and my faith are very important parts of my identity, yet I have never found a place where I felt they were simultaneously represented. In religious communities, I have met many Muslims, but very few with disabilities. In disability communities, I have met many disabled people, but no Muslims. So, I decided to create that place here, in a tiny corner of the Internet. This by no means excludes able-bodied people or non-Muslims; I want anyone who comes across my blog to feel like they have a place they belong here.
So who am I? My name is Zahraa, and I’m 21 years old. I have cerebral palsy, and I am also a practicing Muslim. I am currently in the third year of my undergraduate degree in Psychology, and I am very close to getting my minor in English Language and Literature. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, and spending time with friends and family.
